If the "spare battery" symbol - the little round battery in the bottom of the ES970 - is flashing with a line through it, does it have to be replaced before I can play back my tapes?

Hi,
I have just aquired this camcorder but have no instruction manual. Where as a lot of it is common sense and trial/error I would appreciate it in black and white. If anyone can point me in the right direction to obtain a manual I would be very grateful.

ejecting the cassette

I can't figure out how to view pictures off memory chip in camera on the computer. I took it out and only previous pictures, I can see the pictures I've take from video camera only on the video camera. Is there a step I am missing to do before removing chip off video camera?

How do I download video to my computer? Do I need to buy any software to accomplish this task? I have the proper DV cable to connect from the camera to my USB connection in my computer. I want to save the recorded bible study to my hard drive and then upload the file to my church website.

My camera keeps telling me that my is card locked. I've tried 3 different SD cards (different brands) and flicked the side lock on the card several times. I've tried resetting the settings but nothing seems to work. Help!

Intermittant loading of mini DV cassette
The cassette is inserted into the lift mech and the top of the mech is closed, the cassette should then load unto the camera. nothing happens! eject works fine, guessing this is a sensor (detect cassette in or perhaps a ribbon cable?)many thanks for any help.

lens stuck , camera functions frozen
when camera is turned on you can hear the lens motor running but lens remains stationary and all functions are frozen . It will then beep a few times and then shut itself off .

Footage Problem
