printer alignment on Dell 926

The printer alignment occurs every time I put in a new ink cartridge. This seems like a waste of ink. Is there a way to turn it off?

    when starting the printer, as soon as it says printer alignment, hit the cancel button

    The solution sent from michael bowes was appreciated but really an insult! I have tried to cancel and it will just print another alignment the next time I try to print again. I really did have sense enough to try that already.
