Focusing on Subject
The focus area or focus range for adjusting focus varies depending on the
shooting mode and focus mode (A62).
In A, B, C, D, E, F, N or special effects mode, an area for adjusting focus
can be set by selecting AF area mode (A71) in the shooting menu.
Using the Target Finding AF
When AF area mode in A, B, C, D, E, F or N mode is set to Target
finding AF, the camera will adjust the focus during the following operations if you
press the shutter-release button halfway.
When the camera detects the main subject, it
focuses on that subject. When the subject is in focus,
the focus areas (up to 12 areas) that match up with
the size of the subject will light in green.
When detecting a human face, the camera focuses
on it as a priority.
The camera has 9 focus areas, and if it does not
detect the main subject, it automatically selects the
focus areas containing the subject closest to the
camera. When the subject is in focus, the focus areas
that are in focus light in green.
