Security Lock Settings
You can activate the security lock on operation by
setting passwords.
Use SECURITY LOCK SET of MAIN MENU 2.
1 Press the MENU button to display MAIN MENU 1
and press the MENU button again to switch to
MAIN MENU 2.
2 Select 4. SECURITY LOCK SET.
The SECURITY LOCK SET display appears.

The validity of the security lock depends on the
USE ON/OFF and REC CONTROL settings (see
the table below).
3 Set the ADMIN (administrator) password.
The password can be a character string of 4 to 8
alphanumerics.
Turn the Jog dial to select a character and turn the
Shuttle dial clockwise to advance to the next.
4 To validate the ADMIN password, set USE OFF to
ON and turn the Shuttle dial clockwise.
Setting USE to ON on the ADMIN line enables
you to set the USER password.
5 Set the USER password in the same manner as the
ADMIN password and set USE OFF to ON and
turn the Shuttle dial clockwise to validate the
USER password
Note
You cannot set only USER USE to ON. When you
set ADMIN USE to OFF, USER USE is also set to
OFF.
6 Select the lock level for recording operations on
the REC CONTROL line.
USER: Not only administrators, but also users
may perform recording operations.
ADMIN: Only administrators may perform
recording operations. Users are permitted to
perform playback operations only.
Turn the Jog dial to select, and turn the Shuttle dial
clockwise to register your setting.
7 To exit the menu, press he EXIT/OSD button.
To activate the security lock
After exiting Menu mode, hold the SHUTTLE HOLD
button pressed for more than 3 seconds.
The security lock with the specified conditions
becomes active, and the LOCK indicator lights.
Note
You cannot activate the security lock when the unit is
in Playback mode.
When the security lock is active
The operations are limited depending on the menu
settings, as follows:

ON ON ADMIN All operations are locked.
Entering the USER password will
enable playback operations only.
Entering the ADMIN password
will enable all operations.
ON ON USER All operations are locked.
Entering the USER password will
enable playback AND recording
operations. Entering the ADMIN
password will enable all
operations.
ON OFF ADMIN Only recording and menu
operations are locked, and
playback operations are allowed.
Entering the ADMIN password
will enable all operations.
ON OFF USER Only menu operations are
locked, and recording and
playback operations are allowed.
Entering the ADMIN password
will enable all operations.
OFF OFF ADMIN All operations are allowed. This
is the default condition.
OFF OFF USER All operations are allowed.
When a password input is required, a buzzer will
sound, and the password input display will appear on
the monitor screen.
