• If the CHARGE lamp is flashing slowly (about 1.5-second intervals)
The ambient temperature is outside the suitable range for charging the battery pack. Charge the
battery pack under the suitable temperatures between 10 °C and 30 °C (50 °F and 86 °F).
Nothing is displayed on the viewfinder or the LCD monitor when the power is
turned on.
• If you do not operate the camcorder for 5 minutes or more, the camcorder turns to power save mode.
To cancel the power save mode, operate the camcorder, such as opening/closing the LCD panel
(page 62).
• The camcorder displays images on the viewfinder or the LCD monitor. You can switch between the
viewfinder and the LCD monitor by pressing the FINDER/LCD button.
The camcorder does not start shooting when the START/STOP or PHOTO button
is pressed.
• The camcorder is in the playback mode. Press the MODE button to turn on the lamp of the desired
recording mode.
• The camcorder is writing the image you have just shot on the memory card. You cannot shoot new
image during this period.
• There is no empty space on the memory card. Delete unnecessary images (page 46).
• Total number of movie scenes exceeds the recordable capacity of the camcorder. Delete unnecessary
images (page 46).
• The lens is not attached correctly. Reattach the lens.
The access lamp remains lit even after recording was stopped.
• The camcorder is recording the image you have just shot on the memory card.
The actual recording time for movies is less than the estimated recording time of
the memory card.
• Depending on the recording conditions, the time available for recording may be shorter, for example,
when recording a fast moving subject, etc.
There is a time difference between the point when the START/STOP button is
pressed and the point that the recording movie is started or stopped actually.
• On the camcorder, there may be a slight time difference between the point where you press the
START/STOP button and the actual point that recording movie starts/stops. This is not a malfunction.
Recording takes a long time.
• The noise reduction function is working. This is not a malfunction.
The image is out of focus.
• The subject is too close. Check the minimum focal distance of the lens.
• You are shooting in manual focus mode. Use the autofocus function (page 16).
• Ambient light is insufficient.
• The subject may require special focusing. Use the manual focus function (page 16).
Flash shooting cannot be done.
• Turn on the attached flash (sold separately).
• The flash is not attached correctly. Reattach the flash.
