Question About Canon Camcorder MD160
What does the flashing red symbol mean?...

My camera has been out of action for some time after my battery charger broke. Now that I have charged the battery and turned it on, there is a flashing red symbol, looks like a rectangle with a bump on top and a line through it (also looks a bit like a coffee cup to me), just to the right of the S symbol at the bottom of the screen.

5 from what I have read today, elsewhere, that appears to indicate that your backup battery (the one that keeps the date/time info) needs to be replaced. It's similar to the BIOS battery in a computer, that retains the time and date when the machine is switched off and unplugged.
