Canon EOS Rebel G Problem...

I have an EOS Rebel G that fails to take a picture when holding down the button. It goes through the focus, flash, and shutter as if it were taking a picture, then after wards, it just displays a low battery symbol and does not move the film. The batteries have been replaced and does not solve the problem.
