5 This error is generated by Canon camera's when linking via USB to a PC with a memory card that is too full. Delete some photos via the camera and it should work. On the G10, the limit seems to be 3000 pictures, but that may vary.

5 My memory card is extremely full (6GB used out of 7GB). I deleted two pictures and the communication error was gone. Laptop took about 1 minute to find the camera and I was able to get my pics and videos off.

5 I had the same problem, and it was the picture limit. It was about 3000 on mine too (Powershot S3). Deleted some and it worked again.

2 i have a smiliar camera... canon sd750 and... i have never experienced this problem. when i plug it into my mac the camera suggest "communication error". and when i plug it into my pc, it is the same... when i used a card reader (on my pc), my computer does not respond.... so, is it the memory card, usb, or... the camera? what's going on?

2 Try these steps: First, try plugging into another USB socket (on the PC) I fthis doesn't work, uninstall all Canon software & restart your PC. Restart PC, then plug in your camera, you should see icons loading in the taskbar. Go to 'My Computor'. The camera's memory card should be visible here as a USB drive. From here you can open the files & copy onto your PC's hard drive. If all else fails, i would suggest using a Card Reader.

1 Hi I'm unable to download my pictures onto my computer. When I click on aquire camera settings it's says then connect to camera it says unable to detect camera and then it will say 'communication error' on my camera. I've got the white cord plugged in and everything. Can someone help please? Thanks Laura

1 I bought this camera the day it came out for my trip to St. Thomas. The canon d10 delivered as promised. I took the camera out snorkeling at least 10 times. I was always careful to soak the camera in fresh water when I got back to the hotel room as described in the manual. This is to get any potential salt deposits off the camera.
