my canon powershot A-80 digital camera is showing ...

my canon powershot A-80 digital camera is showing very faint and dark images on every shot, no matter what setting. I've used Auto, portrait, etc. The images are barely discernible with rainbow-like colors shot through them. What do you think the problem is?
