GR 35u. The old clock battery died. I replaced it ...

GR 35u. The old clock battery died. I replaced it but it doesn't reset rendering the camcorder unusable. The unit powers up, opens to accept the cassette and allows fast forward and reverse but but does not play or record. I no longer have the manual and have a fair amount of family cassettes I'd like to convert.
