My mini-dv camcorder keeps getting the error messa...

My mini-dv camcorder keeps getting the error message 'communication error' How can this be corrected? The camera will record ok for a few seconds and then the message appears or quite often it appears immediately and no recording can be done. Please help - we are on holiday and need to use the camera. Thanks, Chris Hammond
