Olympus D 340L/C-840L: Error msg that battery com...

Olympus D 340L/C-840L: Error msg that battery compartment open/unlocked, and it is completely closed! Camera therefore frozen. Will not do anything. Battery completely charged...Backup battery too, tried changing. Tried changing memory card too! Does computer somehow need a reprogramming or something?? Can you help? Much appreciated.
