I have a Makinon 80-200mm lens with an FD mount. I have an adapter that allows me to mount it to my Canon Rebel XT. It works, I can focus manually but I can't adjust the zoom. What am I doing wrong? Can you help?

5 Its okay. I got it. I knew the barrel should slide back and forth but it wasn't. I took a chance and forced it and it gave way and started sliding. I worked it back and forth a bit and its fine now. Sorry for the trouble.
