Having trouble getting a picture to show up throug...

Having trouble getting a picture to show up through eyepiece. We are getting a blank gray screen, we get the date of time, all titles and such. We switch to playback mode and get black/white fuzzy video screen. Would like info on how to get to see through it . Thank you. *its a RCA CC390 Video Camcorder 1990 edition ( 22 years old)
