Question About Sharp Camcorder None

Viewfinder faithfully shows what tape captures: a dim, grayed-out scene. Have cleaned the lens and the head (neither of which would effect the viewfinder). The unit is set to FULL AUTO. Still get dim gray tape images. PS: I have the original manual for [utah157] if needed. I can scan it into digital format and email it to him/her.
