5 You can either us an A/V cable or i.LINK and I have pasted the directions for each below. This should work with your Windows 8 MICROMV™(camcorder type) A/V & i.LINK(video transfer information by connection type) Not all model camcorders are compatible with every operating system. Please refer to the instruction manual supplied with your camcorder for more information regarding compatible operating systems The video from a MICROMV camcorder can be transferred using either an Audio/Video (A/V) cable or i.LINK® (aka IEEE 1394) cable connection. Select the desired connection method below for the appropriate instructions: AV cable-- MPORTANT: The computer must have standard Audio/Video (A/V) input jacks [FIG. 1] and compatible video capture software (Sony® Vegas Movie Studio + DVD, Pinnacle® Studio Plus, Ulead VideoStudio®, etc.) to complete this procedure. The A/V capture card in some VAIO® computers will work with preinstalled Sony software such as VAIO Zone, Click to DVD™ only, and DVgate Plus™ software only. If you are attempting to capture video to a VAIO computer, additional information may be available in the Knowledge Base; if this is the case, you can search the Knowledge Base again using the model number of the VAIO computer. Connect an A/V cable to the A/V output jack of the camcorder. NOTES: If your camcorder has standard A/V output jacks [FIG. 2] , use standard A/V cables [FIG. 3] for the connection. If your camcorder has a mini A/V output jack [FIG. 4] , use an A/V cable with a mini connection [FIG. 5] on one end. Connect the other end of the A/V cable to the A/V input jack on the computer. Turn on the camcorder to the VCR, VTR, or PLAYBACK mode. Cue the video in the camcorder to the beginning of the video footage to be transferred. Turn on the computer. Start the video capture software. Begin playing the video in the camcorder. Begin importing the video with the video capture software. Because there are many different video capture applications on the market and we cannot reasonably know which video capture software you are using, Sony is unable to provide specific instructions or support for software we do not manufacture. However, many video capture applications have detailed help files, including specific instructions about capturing and importing video from a camcorder to a computer. The help files should be available in the Help menu of the video capture software or in a separate file on the software disc. If you cannot find instructions in the help file or on the disc included with your software, consult the software manufacturer for more detailed support information. i.LINK cable--The video from a MICROMV camcorder can be transferred using either an Audio/Video (A/V) cable or i.LINK® (aka IEEE 1394) cable connection. Select the desired connection method below for the appropriate instructions: A/V cable i.LINK cable USING THE i.LINK cable-instructions-- To transfer video from a MICROMV™ camcorder to a computer using an i.LINK cable, the MovieShaker™ 3.1 software is required. Standard Digital Video (DV) software is not compatible. If you do not have the MovieShaker 3.1 software, it can be purchased from Sony® Parts and Accessories Sales, part number 307081004. Otherwise, you can use Audio/Video (A/V) cables to transfer the video instead. NOTES: Some VAIO® computers have versions of MovieShaker (3.2 or 3.3) already installed that do not support the MICROMV format. You can install MovieShaker 3.1 without uninstalling the pre-existing versions to add the MICROMV option. MovieShaker 3.1 software is only supported for use with the Microsoft® Windows® XP, 2000 Professional, and Me operating systems that have been factory installed on the computer. Turn on the computer. Turn on the camcorder by sliding the POWER switch to the VCR position. Insert the tape containing the video footage into the camcorder. Rewind the tape to the beginning of the video footage to be transferred. Connect the camcorder to the computer using an i.LINK cable. Start the MovieShaker 3.1 software on the computer. In the MovieShaker window, click the Capture tab. Click the Play button to begin playing the video. Click the Capture button. When you reach the end of the video, click the Stop Capture button. I hope this helps you. Thank you for asking this question.
