Question About Vivitar Camcorder ViviCam 5385 VIVICAM-5385

Hi, Hopefully someone can help me. When i turn my camera on, the lens extends as it should but i can't take pictures and the camera turns itself off leaving the lens extended. I was told that it is a software erra & I need to update my software. Can someone advise me on how I do this & where i can access this software. thanks Paul.
