Question About Vivitar Digital Camera 5024

Whilst using my camera I pressed the format button and it said ok, now I seem to have lost all my photos. Although on the camera it says I have 106 but when I go into it it says no file. Have I deleted them?

0 is there any way to get these pics back. I hit fromat @ one time in dec lost the pictures and thn just recently i hit delete all Please tell me ther is a way to get these pictures back.
