Lens Error...

Hi, can anyone tell me how to fix the problem with my camera? - Vivitar (7.0 mega pixels) - when I switch the camera on, message on screen says Lens Error: 1114 - then the camera switches off. I can't afford a new camera at Christmas, and would be really grateful if anyone could give me any advice on how to sort it out. Thank you
