Product is not charging properly and shows a pic of a plug where the battery life normally is.

0 I have the same problem- I just bought a new battery (they are hard to find!)-I am charging with a cord directly to the camera-could that be the problem? please advise as I am on a trip and really want to take good pictures. have lost my manual and need another one.
