Taking pictures with AF (focus) lock
If you press ̇ while activating focus lock (pressing the shutter button half-
way on page 41), the focus setting locks and the icon appears on the LCD
monitor. The setting becomes effective even after you take a shot.
*To cancel the AF-lock, turn the camera’s power OFF or press the Zoom or ̇ button.
Taking pictures with AE (exposure) lock
If you press ̆ while activating focus lock (pressing the shutter button half-
way on page 41), the exposure setting locks and the icon appears on the
LCD monitor. The setting becomes effective even after you take a shot.
*To cancel the AE-lock, turn the camera’s power OFF, press the Zoom button, or
change the white balance setting.
Changing the white balance setting
You can select the white balance mode by pressing ̄. Each time you press
̄, the mode alters, and the selected mode is displayed on the LCD monitor.

Using exposure compensation
Pressing the ̆ button when you take a pictures displays the exposure
compensation setting on the LCD monitor. Exposure can be corrected with
̇ or ̈ button. The exposure compensation can be adjusted ±2.0EV in 1/3
EV increments either side of the default setting.
* Each time you press the ̆ button, the function of the ̇ and ̈ buttons changes.
Pressing the ̆ button again changes the functions of the ̇ and ̈ buttons to Macro
mode (̇) and Flash mode (̈) respectively.
*You can restore the normal white balance setting by pressing the ̄ button.
