Exposure compensation is used to alter exposure from the value
suggested by the camera, making pictures brighter or darker.

Display exposure compensation options.

Choose a value.
Normal exposure can be restored by setting exposure compen-
sation to ±0. In modes P, S, and A, exposure compensation is not
reset when the camera is turned off.
Exposure Compensation
–1 EV No compensation +1EV
Press 2 (E) to display exposure com-
pensation options.
Use the multi selector to choose from
values between –3 EV (underexpo-
sure) and +3 EV (overexposure) in
increments of
1
/
3 EV. In general, posi-
tive values make the image brighter
while negative values make it darker.

Exposure compensation is most effective when used with center-
weighted or spot metering (0 123).

The Built-in Flash
When used with the built-in flash, exposure compensation affects both
background exposure and flash level.
