Recording movies
Shooting basics
6 Press the shutter button fully to start recording.
• The orange lamp on the right of the viewfinder lights.
• While recording a movie, the camera fixes its focus and zoom.
• During movie recording, lights red.
7 Press the shutter button again to stop recording.
• The orange lamp blinks while the movie is stored on the card.
• When the remaining recording time has been used up, recording stops
automatically.
TIPS
To keep your subject in focus all the time while shooting
→Set to OFF. "Recording sound with movies" (P.83)
To use the zoom while shooting
→Set DIGITAL ZOOM to ON. "Using the digital zoom" (P.58)
→Set to OFF, and you can use the optical zoom while shooting.

• During movie recording, the flash is disabled.
• It takes longer to store movies than still pictures.
• The maximum recordable time varies depending on the conditions such
as the record mode.
Note
• Recording will continue until the card is full unless stopped by
pressing the shutter button.
• A long recorded movie cannot be edited. (P.101)
• If a single movie recording uses up all of the card’s memory, create
space on the card by deleting the movie or downloading it to a PC.
