Advanced Recording Functions
Taking pictures with Auto Focus
Recording mode:
This allows the focusing method that suits the positions and number of the
subjects to be selected.

Switch the focus selector switch to [ ] or [ ]

Press to select Auto Focus mode and press [MENU/SET]
(Face/Eye
Detection)
The camera automatically detects the faces and
eyes of subjects.
(AF Tracking)
You can adjust the focus and exposure of a
specific subject. The camera will continue to
adjust focus and exposure even if the subject
moves.
(49-area-focusing)
Focuses on the subject in the wide range
area (up to 49-area-focusing) on the recording
screen.

(Custom
Multi)
You can set the preferred shape of an AF area
by selecting 49 points in the AF area, based on
the subject.
(1-area-focusing)
Focuses on AF area in centre of picture.
(Recommended when focus is difficult to align)
(Pinpoint-
focusing)
Enables more precise focusing on a smaller
point than [
] (1-area-focusing).
If you press
when [ ], [ ], [ ], or [ ] is selected, the AF area
setting screen appears. For details on operation of the AF area setting
screen, refer to “Operating Instructions for advanced features (PDF
