1. Set the Power switch to CAMERA.
2. Set the Modeswitch to TAPE.
3. Pressthe PHOTObutton.
• The still picture is recordedfor about 6-7 seconds.
4. After the PHOTOhas been recorded, the Camcorder returnsto its previousmode.
Searching for a Photo Image
+ The Photo Searchworks only inPlayer mode.
1. Set the Power switch to PLAYER.
2. Set the Modeswitch to TAPE.
3. Pressthe MENU button.
The menu list willappear.
4. Movethe Menu selector tothe left or rightto select Tape,then press the Menuselector.
5. Movethe Menu selector to theleft or rightto select Photo Search, then pressthe Menu
selector.
6. Pressthe _/_I, (REW/FF) buttonsto select the photo.
• The photo searchprocess appears on LCD screen while you are searching.
• After completing the search, the Camcorderdisplays the stillimage.
7. Toexit, press the • (STOP) orMENU button.

• Taking a photo image while recording a video is not available.
• You can use the remote control to take a photo by using the PHOTO button on the remote control.
Pressing the PHOTO button on the remote control records the still image with automatic focusing.
(SO-D457 only)
• When there are no still images recorded on the tape, itwill be fully rewound or forwarded.
• Photo image recording isnot available while Color Nite or 16:9 Wide is in use.
• DIS, Digital Zoom, Color Nite or Digital Effect is not available when taking a photo image.
• Taking a photo image while EASY.Q, DIS or Digital Zoom mode is in use will release current mode.
(After a photo image istaken, the mode will return automatically.)
