Using soft ash
When taking a portrait with the ash in the dark indoor environment, a shadow may
be cast upon the subject. In this case, you can take photos by raising the ash to
reex the light o the ceiling or wall, not pointing directly at the subject. Then, the
shadow cast upon the subject will disappear, allowing you get a soft portrait with
the light evenly spread on the scene.

On the Home screen, scroll to <Basic>.

Select Soft Flash.

Raise the ash.
Do not forcibly raise the ash to prevent it from being damaged.
The ash may not re if the subject or the background is brightly lit.
Adjusting the ISO sensitivity
The ISO sensitivity is the measure of a lm’s sensitivity to light as dened by the
International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The higher ISO sensitivity you
select, the more sensitive to light your camera becomes. Use a higher ISO sensitivity
to capture better photos and reduce camera shake when not using the ash.

In Shooting mode, press [ ].

Select ISO.

Select an option.

Select to use an appropriate ISO sensitivity based on the brightness of
the subject and lighting.
Higher ISO sensitivities may result in more image noise.
