SELECT MODE
First make sure the LCD monitor is open fully.
Turn the Power Dial to "REC" while pressing
down the lock button located on the dial, and
set the shooting mode selector to "MANUAL".

CENTER SUBJECT, LOCK IRIS
Press

. "EXP." is displayed in the LCD
monitor. Adjust zoom so that the subject fills
the LCD monitor, then press and hold

for
about 2 seconds. The exposure setting display
and “
L
” appear, indicating that the iris is
locked.
To Return To Automatic Iris Control . . .
..... Press

. The Exposure Control indicator and
“
L
” disappear. Or set the shooting mode
selector to “AUTO”.
Iris Lock
Use this function when shooting a moving subject, when zooming, when the subject changes its distance
(thus its size in the LCD monitor), or when you want to lock the brightness level.
When the subject is close, keep the iris locked. Even when the subject moves away from you, the image will
not darken.
NOTES:
Iris lock is recommended in the following situa-
tions:
●
When shooting on a reflective natural background
such as at the beach or when skiing.
●
When shooting objects under a spotlight.
●
When the subject is backing away.
●
When zooming.
** Locking the exposure control and the iris
After step 1, adjust the exposure using the –/+
button
.
Then lock the iris in step 2
.
For automatic
locking, press

quickly. The iris becomes
automatic after about 2 seconds.
Iris
Works like the pupil of the human eye. In a well-
lighted environment, the human pupil contracts to
keep too much light from enterintg. In low lighting,
the pupil dilates to allow more light in.
