Troubleshooting
Computer/connectivity problems
Battery life is short ■ Make sure the correct battery type is installed (page 59).
■ Wipe the contacts with a clean, dry cloth before inserting a
battery in the camera.
■ Insert a new or charged battery (page 1).
You cannot take a
picture
■ Turn the camera off, then on again. Make sure the camera is not
in Favorites mode.
■ Depress the Shutter button all the way (page 5).
■ Insert a new or charged battery (page 1).
■ Memory is full. Transfer pictures to the computer (page 42),
delete pictures (page 17), change image storage location, or
insert another card.
Error message appears
on LCD
■ Turn the camera off, then on again.
■ Remove the memory card.
■ Turn off the camera. Remove the battery. Wipe the contacts with
a clean, dry cloth.
■ Insert a new or charged battery.
■ If the problem still exists, get help (page 51).
Memory card not
recognized or camera
freezes with card.
■ Card may be corrupted. Format the card in the camera. (See the
“Customizing your camera” table starting on page 32.)
■ Use another memory card.
Status Solution
Computer does not
communicate with
the camera
■ Make sure the battery is charged and installed correctly (page 1).
■ Turn on the camera.
■ Make sure the USB cable model U-8 is connected to the camera
and the computer (page 43). (If using an EasyShare dock, check
all cable connections. Make sure the camera is seated on the
dock.)
■ Make sure EasyShare software is installed (page 42).
