Troubleshooting
Computer/connectivity problems
Battery life is short Make sure the correct battery type is installed (page 59).
Wipe the contacts with a clean, dry cloth before inserting a
battery in the camera.
Insert a new or charged battery (page 1).
You cannot take a
picture
Turn the camera off, then on again. Make sure the camera is not
in Favorites mode.
Depress the Shutter button all the way (page 5).
Insert a new or charged battery (page 1).
Memory is full. Transfer pictures to the computer (page 42),
delete pictures (page 17), change image storage location, or
insert another card.
Error message appears
on LCD
Turn the camera off, then on again.
Remove the memory card.
Turn off the camera. Remove the battery. Wipe the contacts with
a clean, dry cloth.
Insert a new or charged battery.
If the problem still exists, get help (page 51).
Memory card not
recognized or camera
freezes with card.
Card may be corrupted. Format the card in the camera. (See the
“Customizing your camera” table starting on page 32.)
Use another memory card.
Status Solution
Computer does not
communicate with
the camera
Make sure the battery is charged and installed correctly (page 1).
Turn on the camera.
Make sure the USB cable model U-8 is connected to the camera
and the computer (page 43). (If using an EasyShare dock, check
all cable connections. Make sure the camera is seated on the
dock.)
Make sure EasyShare software is installed (page 42).
