Common Operations
There are 15 available shooting modes.
1 b Auto Picture
Selects the best capture mode. (p.60)
2 R Program
The basic picture-taking mode. You can let the camera set the
functions or choose various functions yourself. (p.61)
3 A Night Scene
Ideal for taking night views. It is best to use a
tripod in this mode. Use the flash if including
people in your picture. (p.65)
4 d Movie
Use this mode for taking movies. Sound is recorded at the same time.
(p.97)
5 O Voice Recording
Use this mode to record sound files. Be careful not to cover the
microphone with your hand. (p.141)
6 q Landscape
Use this mode for taking landscape views. The
depth of field encompasses a wide area.
• In shooting modes other than R, A, d, O, c and Y, the
flash, focus mode, saturation, contrast, sharpness, white balance,
etc. are automatically set to the optimal settings for each mode.
• Some functions may not be available or may not function fully
depending on the shooting mode. For details, refer to “Functions
Available for Each Shooting Mode” (p.168).
• The Capture Mode Palette does not appear even if you press the
four-way controller (3) when Focus Mode is set to \ and focus
position is being adjusted (p.79).
