Selecting the Flash Mode
• The flash is off when the Capture mode is set to , continu-
ous shooting or infinity-landscape.
• In [Auto flash + Red-eye Reduction] and [Flash On + Red-eye
Reduction] modes, the flash discharges once to make the
pupils of the subject’s eyes smaller shortly before the main
flash discharges to take the picture.

Press the button in Capture mode.
The flash mode changes each time the button is pressed
and the icon is displayed on the LCD monitor.
The camera is ready to take the picture in the set flash mode.

light conditions.
Auto flash + Red-eye
Reduction
This mode reduces the phenomenon of red eyes
caused by the light from the flash being reflected in the
subject’s eyes.The flash will discharge regardless of
lighting conditions.

Caution
If you take a picture while looking through the viewfinder
when the focus mode is set on Macro and Super Macro, the
range of the resulting picture will differ from what was seen
in the viewfinder.
Be sure to check the image on the LCD monitor.
Manual Focus
When the mode is set to , the central portion of the picture
is enlarged to full screen on the LCD monitor for focus adjust-
ment. Use the four-way controller to adjust the focus while
watching the indicator on the monitor.

After the focus is set, press any buttons except the four-way con-
troller (̆̄) or take a finger off from the four-way controller (̆̄).
The screen returns to the normal display two seconds later.
