Camera
Camera will not operate.
Power is not turned on. zPress the power button (Basic
Guide p. 4).
Memory card slot/battery
cover is open.
zConfirm that the memory card slot
/battery cover is securely closed
(Basic Guide p. 1).
Batteries are loaded in the
wrong direction.
zReload the batteries in the correct
direction (Basic Guide p. 1).
Batteries are not the right
type.
zUse only unused AA-size alkaline
batteries or Canon AA-size NiMH
batteries (Basic Guide p. 1).
Insufficient battery voltage
(“Change the batteries”
message displays).
zReplace the camera batteries with
2 unused or fully charged batteries
(Basic Guide p. 1).
zUse the AC Adapter Kit ACK800
(sold separately) (p. 110).
Poor contact between
camera and battery
terminals.
zWipe the battery terminals with a
clean dry cloth.
zReload the batteries several times.
Sounds come from the camera interior.
The camera’s horizontal/
vertical orientation was
changed.
zThe camera’s orientation
mechanism is operating. There is
no malfunction.
When the power is turned on
“Card locked!” message appears.
The SD memory card’s write
protect tab is set to “Write
protect”.
zWhen recording to, erasing from
or formatting the memory card,
slide the tab upward (p. 106).
