Quick Start Basics
Operation
Never open the battery cover while the back lamp is flashing green. Doing so can
result in the image you just shot being saved incorrectly, damage to other images
stored in memory, malfunction of the camera, etc.
If unwanted light is shining directly onto the lens, shade the lens with your hand
when shooting an image.
Monitor Screen when Shooting Snapshots
Subject brightness conditions can cause monitor screen response to slow and can
cause digital noise in the monitor screen image.
The image that appears on the monitor screen is for image composition. The actual
image will be recorded at the quality set for the image quality setting (page 73).
Shooting Indoors under Fluorescent Lighting
Minute flickering of fluorescent lighting can affect the brightness or color of an
image.
Any of the following can make proper focus impossible.
Solid color wall or other very low contrast subject
Strongly back lit subject
Very shiny subject
Blinds or other subject with a repeating horizontal pattern
Multiple subjects at varying distances from the camera
Subject in a dark location
Subject that is too far away for light from the AF assist lamp to reach
Camera movement while shooting
Fast-moving subject
Subjects outside the focus range of the camera
If you cannot focus properly, try using focus lock (page 64) or Manual Focus (page
61).
