Focus.
Press the shutter button halfway to focus.
R The lens may make a noise when the camera focuses; this
is normal. If the subject is poorly lit, the AF-assist illumina-
tor may light; see “C AF ILLUMINATOR”(P 88) for informa-
tion on disabling the illuminator.
If the camera is able to focus, it will beep twice.
If the camera is unable to focus, the focus frame will turn red, s will be dis-
played. Change the composition or use focus lock (P 35).
