Static electricity may occasionally prevent the camera from operating correctly. If this
should occur, try removing and then reloading the battery. If the camera turns on and
operates properly, this indicates that there is no malfunction. You can use the camera
as usual.
The subject is not
in focus
The subject is difficult
to focus on with
autofocus
Lock the focus on another object at the
same distance (press the shutter release
button halfway), then aim at the target
and press the shutter release button fully
(p.40), or use the Manual Focus mode.

The subject is not in
the focusing area
Position the subject in the focus frame in
the middle of the LCD monitor. If the
subject is outside the focusing area, aim
the camera at the subject and lock the
focus (press the shutter release button
halfway), then compose picture and
press the shutter release button fully.
The subject is too
close
Set the focus mode to q. (p.85)
The focus mode is set

Normal pictures will be out of focus if
taken with focus mode set to q.
The flash does not
discharge
The flash mode is set
to a (flash off)
