Precautions
On noise
Noise may be heard when the unit is placed
near an AC power source, a fluorescent lamp
or a mobile phone during recording or
playback.
Operation and touch noises may be recorded
when you press the button on the PCM
recorder, touch the case, or hold the PCM
recorder during recording. By using the
supplied remote commander, you can
perform recording operations without
touching the PCM recorder.
Roaring noise from wind, or other noises
from electric fans, air conditioners, air
cleaners, or PC fans will also be recorded.
You can reduce the low frequencies noise by
setting the LCF(Low Cut Filter) function
(page 43). You can also reduce the roaring
noise from wind by using the wind screen
AD-PCM2 (not supplied).
On safety
Do not operate the unit while driving, cycling
or operating any motorized vehicle.
On the built-in microphones
The built-in microphones are high-
performance electret condenser microphones.
Do not expose them to strong wind or water.
On handling
Do not subject the PCM recorder to strong
shock or vibration. Doing so may cause a
malfunction of the PCM recorder.
Do not place the recorder in the following
locations:
– Anywhere extremely hot. Never expose it
to temperatures above 60ºC.
– Under direct sunlight or close to heaters
– In a sun-heated car with the windows
closed (especially in summer)
– In a humid place, such as in a bathroom
– Anywhere dusty
Be careful not to allow water to splash on the
unit. The unit is not water-proof. In
particular, be careful in the following
situations.
– When you have the unit in your pocket and
go to the bathroom, etc.
– When you bend down, the unit may drop
into the water and may get wet.
– When you use the unit in an environments
where the unit is exposed to rain, snow, or
humidity.
– In circumstances where you get sweaty.
If you touch the unit with wet hands or if
you put the unit in the pocket of sweaty
clothes, the unit may get wet.
