56 - User's Manual
■ Back light compensation: This option is only available when the Auto mode is selected for the
Exposure setting. This option enables light compensation for images that are too dark to recognize; for
example, for the dark side of objects that is posed against bright sunlight. This option is disabled if you
enable the WDR function.
■
WDR (Wide Dynamic Range): Default is off. When set to Auto, you can select the sensitivity and
strength of the WDR function. The Low, Medium, High options correspond to the level of contrast
between the overly-lit area and the shaded areas. For example, the High option applies to a high
contrast scenario. Note that when the exposure time is set to longer than 1/60 second, the WDR
function will be disabled.
The Sensitivity option applies to the response speed to the change in bright-to-dark lighting contrast.
If you prefer using the Manual setting, the Long exposure time (that for capturing the shaded area of
an image) is either automatically selected by rmware or using the exposure time you selected in the
Manual or Shutter Priority mode. On the other hand, the short exposure time is geometrically shorter
than the long exposure time to cover areas that are overly lighted. The higher the time decrease ratio
(64x max.), the shorter the exposure time.
• When the WDR function takes effect, the frame rate will be halved. The WDR works by generating
an optimal image from out of two image frames, one taken with long exposure and the other shorter
exposure. When enabled, a 60fps stream will be delivered at half of the frame rate, i.e., 30 frames per
second.
NOTE:
• When the WDR mode is set to Manual, the maximum multiplying power between the long and short
exposure time may not be as large as 64x. The congurable multiplying power can be smaller when the
long and the short exposure time are set to be close in numbers.
