Shooting – Advanced Functions
Manually Setting the Shutter
Speed and Aperture
You can manually set the shutter speed and
aperture to shoot images. You can select settings
such as a long exposure to suit your purpose.
z When you press the shutter button halfway,
the difference between the standard
exposure* and the selected exposure
appears on the LCD monitor. If the difference
is more than ±2 stops, “-2” or “+2” appears in
red.
* The standard exposure is calculated by the AE
function according to the selected metering
mode.
z See page 159 for settings that can be
changed in this mode.
z If you wish to change the exposure,
select the shutter speed or the aperture
with the SET button and change the
value using the left or right button.
z When the AF frame is set to FlexiZone,
you can switch between shutter speed,
aperture value and AF frame each time
the SET button is pressed (p. 82).
z The LCD monitor’s brightness matches
the selected shutter speed and aperture
value. When you select a fast shutter
speed or shoot a subject in a dark place
and set the flash to (Flash On,
Red-eye Reduction) or (Flash On),
the image will always be bright.
z For the correlation between aperture
value and shutter speed, see page 78.
