Press the button.
z You can immediately shoot the image using
the selected AF frame by pressing the shutter
button instead of pressing button.
z The AF frame will move back to its original
position (Center), if you hold down the
button.
z Turn the LCD monitor on to set the AF
frame to the position you desire before
shooting.
z The AF frame is locked to center when
using the digital zoom.
z When the Spot AE Point is selected as
the light metering mode, you can use the
selected AF frame as the Spot AE Point
(on the right).
z For an explanation of the AF frame
colors, please refer to p. 26.
z When the shooting mode dial is set to
TV, Av or M, pressing the SET button
will change the item that can be set as
described below.

Appropriate for standard
shooting conditions, including
backlit scenes. The camera
divides images into several
zones for light metering. It
evaluates the complex lighting
conditions, such as the
position of the subject, the
brightness, the direct light, and
the backlighting, and adjusts
the settings to the correct
exposure for the main subject.
Center-
weighted
Averaging
Averages the light metered
from the entire frame, but gives
greater weight to the subject
matter at the center.
Spot AE
Point
Meters the area within the spot
AE point frame.
Center
Locks the spot metering frame
to the center of the LCD
monitor.
AF
Point
Moves the spot AE point to the
AF frame.
