Setting the Image-recording Quality
The number of possible shots and maximum burst apply to a 1GB CF card
based on Canon’s testing standards.
The single image size, number of possible shots, and maximum burst during
continuous shooting are based on Canon’s testing standards (JPEG quality: 8,
ISO 100, Picture Style: Standard).
Check the viewfinder or top LCD panel for the current number of possible shots.
The single image size and number of possible shots will vary depending
on the subject, memory card brands, ISO speed, Picture Style, etc.
In the case of monochrome images, the file size will be smaller so the number
of possible shots will be higher.

You can also use the [2 Image size] menu to set the image size.
For simultaneous image recording, the RAW or sRAW image and the
JPEG image will be recorded with the same file number in the same folder.
If the [5 Record func+media/folder sel.] menu’s [Record func.] is set
to [Rec. separately], you can set the image size (except for 1+JPEG
and 9+JPEG) for the respective card.
In accordance with the selected image size, the <p> or <1> icon
will be displayed on the right side in the viewfinder. If 9 has been
selected, <1> will be displayed.
