Taking Pictures
Setting the Light Metering Range to Determine the Exposure (AE Metering)
Multi segment
The exposure is determined by the entire screen.
Centre-weighted The exposure is determined mainly by the centre of the screen.
Spot
The exposure is determined by the middle of the screen only.
z Select [AE Metering] on the [Rec.Mode] menu.
x Use the four-way controller ( ) to change the meter-
ing mode.
c Press the OK button.
The camera is ready to take the picture.

When you set the metering mode to [Spot], the light metering
range will change as you move the autofocus area.
Setting the ISO Speed (ISO Speed)
Auto The camera sets the speed automatically.
100 Increases the exposure time
200 Decreases the exposure time
z Select [ISO Speed] on the [Rec.Mode] menu.
x Use the four-way controller ( ) to change the ISO
speed.
c Press the OK button.
The camera is ready to take the picture.

How to recall the [Rec.Mode] menu
Changing the AF Area (Focusing Area)
You can change the range and position of the autofocus area.
Wide Normal range
Spot The range becomes smaller.
Free You can change the position of the autofocus area.
z Select [Focusing Area] on the [Rec.Mode] menu.
x Press the four-way controller ( ).
The Focusing Area screen will be
displayed.
c Use the four-way controller (
) to change the setting.
v Press the OK button twice.
The camera is ready to take the picture.

x Press the four-way controller ( ).
c Use the four-way controller to
move the focusing area.
v Press the OK button 3 times.
The camera is ready to take the pic-
ture.

At certain autofocus areas, the focus frame may overlap the mode or other icons
and become unclear. In such a case, turn off the DISPLAY mode. (See page 30.)
If you have changed an autofocus area, you can not check the location through the
viewfinder. Take pictures checking the location on the LCD monitor.
