Turning the Camera On and Off
Shooting Mode
Shooting Mode
Slide the G switch in the direction shown
below. The lens will extend automatically.
Slide the G switch to turn the camera off.
2 Switching to Playback Mode
Press the a button to start playback. Press the shutter
button halfway to return to shooting mode.

• Be sure that the lens cap is removed before turning
the camera on.
• Forcibly preventing the lens from extending could
cause damage or product malfunction.
• Pictures can be affected by fingerprints and other
marks on the lens. Keep the lens clean.
• The G button does not completely disconnect
the camera from its power supply.
Playback Mode
Playback Mode
To turn the camera on and begin playback, press
the a button for about a second.
Press the a button again or slide the G
switch to turn the camera off.
2 Switching to Shooting Mode
To exit to shooting mode, press the shutter button
halfway. Press the a button to return to playback.
2 Auto Power Off
The camera will turn off automatically if no operations are performed for the length of time selected in the
M
M
AUTO POWER OFF menu (see page 101). To turn the camera on, use the G switch or press the a
button for about a second.
