Camera screen messages
Picture is too
dark or
underexposed.
Flash is not on, or the
subject was too far
away for the flash to
be effective.
Move so there is no more than 11.8 ft
(3.6 m) between the camera and the subject;
6.9 ft (2.1 m) in Telephoto.
Auto exposure was
not achieved.
To take the best possible pictures, press the
Shutter button halfway and hold. When
the ready light glows green, press the Shutter
button the rest of the way down to take
the picture.
Not enough light. Increase Exposure Compensation (page 18).
Memory card
full
Image storage is full. Insert a new card (page 7), transfer pictures
(page 38), or delete pictures (page 25).
The maximum
number of files or
folders is reached (or
other directory
concern).
Transfer pictures and videos to the computer,
then format the card or internal memory
(page 22).
Caution: Formatting a card deletes all
pictures and videos, including protected files.
Message Cause Solution
No images to display There are no pictures
in the current image
storage location.
Change image storage location
setting (page 20).
Memory card requires
formatting
The card is corrupted
or formatted from
another digital
camera.
Insert a new card or format the
card (page 22).
Caution: Formatting deletes all
pictures and videos, including
protected files.
Memory card cannot be
read (Please format memory
card or insert another

Only one USB connection
allowed
Disconnect cable or remove
camera from dock
USB cable is
connected to the
camera while the
camera is in a dock.
Unplug the USB cable from the
camera.
