7 Troubleshooting
Camera problems
Status Solution
Camera does not
turn on, off; buttons do
not function
■ Remove then reinsert batteries.
■ Replace non-rechargeable alkaline batteries. Charge rechargeable
batteries (see page 1).
Camera freezes up
when a card is inserted
or removed.
■ Turn the camera off, then back on. Make sure the camera is
turned off before inserting or removing a card. For compatible
card types, see page 4.
LCD is too dark. ■ Adjust the LCD Brightness setting (see page 37).
In Review, a blue or
black screen is
displayed instead of
a picture
■ Transfer the picture to the computer (see page 40), then format
the card or internal memory.
Caution: Formatting a card deletes all pictures and
videos.
■ Take another picture.
In Review, you do not
see a picture (or the
expected picture) on
the LCD
■ Format the card in the camera (see page 39)
Caution: Formatting a card deletes all pictures and
videos.
Pictures remaining
number does not
decrease after taking a
picture
■ Continue taking pictures. The camera is operating normally.
(The camera estimates the number of pictures remaining after each
picture is taken, based on picture size and content.)
Camera displays a
High Temperature
error
■ If camera temperature rises to a certain level, a high temperature
error (Video recording will stop in 5 seconds) appears. Turn the
camera off as soon as possible and let it cool down. The camera
cannot capture more videos until it has cooled down. (Captured
videos are not lost.)
