Compensating the Exposure
In some situations the illumination of the
background and your subject may differ. Auto
exposure systems may not always calculate
the proper exposure correctly. This is a
normal situation. This feature allows you to
manually compensate the exposure.
[Preparation]
• Set the operational mode dial and REC mode
dial. (P25)

Press the [ ] button to select
[ EXPOSURE].

Press 2/1 to compensate the
exposure.
• You can compensate from -2 EV to +2 EV
with 0.25 EV step.
(EV is an abbreviation of Exposure Value,
and it is the amount of light given to the CCD
by the aperture value and the shutter speed.
EV0: the exposure capacity with the
aperture value F1.0 and the shutter speed 1
second
When the aperture value or shutter speed
rises, EV1, EV2, EV3... rise too.)
• The compensation state is not reflected on
the LCD monitor.

Press the [
REVIEW/SET
] button.
• The compensation window will close.

Take a picture.
• The recording method is the same as in
“Taking Pictures (AUTO Mode)”. (P29)
• When the shutter speed is faster than 1/500, the range of aperture value which is possible
to compensate exposure will be limited. (

• When recording in AUTO [ ],
portrait [ ], landscape [ ], sports [ ]
or motion
image [ ] mode, it is not possible to compensate exposure.
