Look through the viewfinder and
press the shutter release button
halfway.
The focus indicator ] appears and you
will hear a beep when the subject comes
into focus. (When blinking, the subject is
not in focus.)

You can set the camera so that focusing is performed when the = button
is pressed.

Select [Button Customization] in the [A Rec. Mode 5]
menu and press the four-way controller (5).
The [Button Customization] screen appears.

and press the four-way controller (5).
The [AF Button] screen appears.

pressed halfway. (default setting)
