Taking Pictures
Setting the Shooting Functions
Focus mode
1 Press the four-way controller (5) in Capture mode.
The focus mode changes each time the button is pressed and the icon
appears on the LCD monitor.
The camera is ready to take pictures in the selected focus mode.

Autofocus mode
The camera focuses on the object in the autofocus area
when the shutter release button is pressed halfway.
Use this mode when the distance to the subject is more
than 40 cm (16 in.).

Macro mode
This mode is used when the distance to the subject is
approx. 18 cm – 50 cm (7 in. – 20 in.). The camera
focuses on the object in the autofocus area when the
shutter release button is pressed halfway.
r
Super Macro mode
This mode is used when the distance to the subject is
approx. 6 cm – 20 cm (2.4 in. – 8 in.). The camera
focuses on the object in the autofocus area when the
shutter release button is pressed halfway.
Pan Focus mode
This mode is used when the distance to the subject is
approx. more than 1.5 m (4.92 ft.) at wide angle and
approx. more than 5 m (16.4 ft.) at tele angle. The focus
is set from close to infinite range. This mode is used
when shooting close and distant subjects together or
the subject is hard to focus on.

Infinity-Landscape
mode
This mode is used for taking distant objects.
z
Manual Focus mode Adjust the focus manually with the four-way controller.
Focusing Area mode The position of the autofocus area is changed.
