52 - User's Manual
Auto: If you set Exposure mode as Auto, the Exposure time and Gain control will not be
congurable since the sensor library will automatically adjust the value according to the ambient
light. Then you can congure iris mode as “indoor” or “outdoor” to reach the best image quality.
■ Iris mode (When the Auto Exposure mode is selected):
Select Indoor or Outdoor iris mode to
adapt to the installation. The preset iris aperture setting will apply.
■ Iris sensitivity (When the Auto Exposure mode is selected): This option tunes how quickly the
P-iris adapts to changes in environments for controlling image quality and depth of eld. 10 is the
most sensitive, and 1 the least.
Iris Adjustment (this option is available when the Manual mode is selected on IP8172P):
The IP8172P comes with a P-iris lens, which controls the iris opening with extreme precision by
its built-in stepping motor. Via software controls, the lens maintains the iris opening at an optimal
level at all times, resulting in superior sharpness and depth of eld as well as image quality.
You can manually tune the value of iris opening (aperture size), which can range from 1 to 100
(long depth of eld).
The smallest number, 1, means the iris is narrowed down as much as possible (smallest
amount of light received with longest depth of eld).
The largest number, 100, means the iris is open as wide as possible (largest amount of
light received with shortest depth of eld).
Once set, the iris will stay at current position as long as the lighting condition allows. When
external lighting conditions exceed an acceptable range, the P-iris mechanism adjusts itself.
■ Iris response time:
The Iris speed slide bar is for adjusting the opening or closing speed of
the iris from 1 (Fast) to 10 (Slow) steps. You can also adjust the Gain control and Exposure
time according to the ambient light.
■ Iris Adjustment & Iris response time: Y
ou can manually adjust the Iris Adjustment and Iris
response time according to the ambient light. Noted that these functions are only available for
IP8172P.
