Image Appearance
Increasing the Color level increases the color saturation. The value 100 gives maximum color saturation. The value 0 gives a
black and white image.
The image Brightness can be a djusted in the range 0–100, where a higher value produces a brighter image.
Increasing the Sharpness can increase bandwidth usage. A sha rper image m ight increase imag e noise especially in low light
conditions. A lower setting reduces image noise, but the whole image will appear less sharp.
White balance
White balance is used to make colors in the image appear the same regardless of the color temperature of the light source. The Axis
product can be set to automatically identify the light source and compensate for its color. Alternatively, select the type of light
source from the drop-down list. For a description of ea ch available setting, see the online h e lp
.
Wide Dynamic Range (Dynamic Contrast)
Wide dynamic range (Dynamic Contrast) can improve the expo sure when there is a considerable contrast between light and dark
areas in the image. In intense backlight conditions, enable WDR. Disable WDR In low light conditions for optimal exposure.
Note
This se tting is only possible when using automatic exposure control.
Exposure Settings
Congure the exposure settings to suit the image quality requirements in relation to lighting, frame rate and bandwidth
considerations.
Exposure control - These settings is used to adapt to the amount of light u sed. Automatic is the default settings can be used in most
situations. The shutter s peed is automatically set to produce optimum image quality.
Maxexposuretime-Select the maximum exposure time from the dro p-down list. Increasing the exposure time w ill improve
image quality, but decrease the f rame rate. Ther e may also be an increase in motion blur
.CheckingAllow slow shutter decreases
the s hutter speed in low light to improve image brightness.
Enable Backlight compensation - Enable this option if a bright spot of light, for example a light bulb, causes other areas in
the image to appear too dark.
Exposure zones - This settings determines which part of the image is used to calculate the exposure. For m ost s ituations, the Auto
setting can be used. For particular r equiremen
t, select a predened area.
Max gain - Measured in decibels (dB), gain
describes the amount of amplication applied to a signal, in this case the visual
information in the image. A high level of amplication m ay p rovide a better imag e in very low light situations. A high gain will also
increasetheamountofimagenoise.
Day/Night
The IR cut lter prevents infrared (IR) light from reaching the image sensor. In poor li ghting conditions, for example at night, or
when using an IR lamp, set the IR cut lter to Off. This incr ea ses light s ensitivity and al lows the product to “see” infrared light. The
image is shown in black and white when the IR cut lter is off.
If using automatic Exposure control, settheIRcutlter to Auto to automatically switch between On and Off accordingtothe
lighting conditions.
Image settings
Autofocus enabled - Automatic focusing is enabled by default. If the focus position is changed manually using the focus bar,
autofocus will be disabled even if enabled here. In this case, use the PTZ control panel to enable autofocus, see PTZ Controls, on page
10. If required, the focus control can be disabled under PTZ > Advanced > Controls.
