Taking Pictures in r (P AUTO) Mode

Frame a picture using the zoom control.
In this mode, the camera automatically
analyzes the composition and selects the
appropriate scene mode according to
the subject and shooting conditions. The
selected mode is displayed as shown below.
When the shutter button is pressed halfway,
the camera selects the optimal P
mode, which is displayed next to the scene
mode icon.

o IMAGE SIZE
If S is selected for o IMAGE SIZE in r mode,
the camera will automatically select the optimal
image size (pg. 67).
A Notes
L (AUTO) will be selected if the subject does not
match the scenes listed above.
I appears on the display while in r. The
camera continuously analyzes the scene, always
trying to detect faces.
• The camera focuses continuously, increasing the
drain on the battery. The sound of the camera
focusing may be audible.
