Turning the Camera on and O
Shooting Mode
Shooting Mode
Press the G button to turn the camera on.
The lens will extend and the lens cover will open.
Press G again to turn the camera o .
2 Tip: Switching to Playback Mode
Press the a button for about a second to start play-
back. Press the shutter button halfway to return to
shooting mode.
3 Cautions
• Forcibly preventing the lens from extending could
cause damage or product malfunction.
• Pictures can be a ected by ngerprints and other
marks on the lens. Keep the lens clean.
• The G button does not completely disconnect
the camera from its power supply.
Playback Mode
Playback Mode
To turn the camera on and begin playback, press
the a button for about a second.
Press the G button to turn the camera o .
2 Tip: Switching to Shooting Mode
To exit to shooting mode, press the shutter button
halfway. Press the a button to return to playback.
2 Tip: Auto Power O
The camera will turn o automatically if no operations are performed for the length of time selected in the
M AUTO POWER OFF menu (pg. 88; note that OFF is not available when an option other than n POWER SAVE
is selected for S POWER MANAGEMENT or when R is selected in O mode). To turn the camera on, use
the G button or press the a button for about a second.
